TPA has proved once again how exceptional we are by adding a new Speech and Debate Coach named Danielle Delgado! Like most, Danielle joined S&D in high school and fell in love instantly.
When asked what the hardest part about S&D was, Danielle said, “finding time to sleep.” She loved it so much that she became a perfectionist about her cases and speeches. Danielle’s goal for this year’s team is to improve throughout the year. Her advice for beginners is “to try all kinds of events, make Speech and Debate friends from other teams, go watch the final rounds at every tournament” and to, of course, “have fun!”
She plans to stay as long as she can, but a girl has got to work. Through one of TPA’s students, Violeta Panayotova, Danielle heard of the open position and immediately applied. While Danielle loves S&D, she took the position because she felt grateful to the Speech and Debate community and wanted to give back.
But when does she have time to rest? Coaching is exhausting, but to also attend ASU and successfully be a Political Science and Business Entrepreneurship major is a miracle.
While Danielle is known as the “Coach” of Speech and Debate, she doesn’t work alone. She works with Mr. Weiss, who is the High School Director and basically does the paperwork of S&D. Mrs. Mary Beth Hollam coaches Middle School, and Mrs. Kuntzelman is the Middle School Director.
TPA must be treating Coach Delgado right if she has no complaints about coaching and continues to endlessly praise it!
