Many basketball teams take their seniors for granted, but our Lady Knights know what it’s like to play without them. That’s why they are treasuring each of their six seniors.
These team leaders started off the season strong with a thrilling game against Arizona College Prep. Unfortunately, our team lost by three, with the game coming down to the final seconds.
The Lady Knights have moved on to battle several schools with massive numbers, up to 1,500 students. However, they have managed to hold their own and play hard against these tough opponents.
Senior Captain Cat Corriel says, “We’ve had to overcome some adversities… we’re just now seeing the fruits of our hard work. We’re all working really hard to be better every day, and we’re improving every single game.”
Despite the strong showing of seniors, the age of the team has not kept the younger Lady Knights from shining. The JV group is holding down an impressive winning season, even with only six players.
Also, freshman MaryGrace Brittain has excelled as the varsity starting point guard. She is being asked to dribble the ball up the court against much older players, and is thriving against the competition. Cat says of MaryGrace: “She’s really proving her spot on the court this year. She’s doing really awesome at handling the ball. It’s great to have someone so young who’s so confident with the ball.”
Congrats to the Lady Knights on their hard work, and we hope it translates into more success for this great program.
