As many of you know, My Fair Lady, the school musical, wrapped up last week. It was four days of fun and entertainment, but not everything happened on stage. It’s time to go Behind the Scenes!
Starting on Thursday, emotions were fairly high. It was the first public showing and we weren’t entirely sure how it would go. It was also the first time a cast member decided to use makeup. Disregarding the written instructions, he placed a big patch of black makeup in the center of his face. The cast burst into laughter as he seemed unaware that the makeup wasn’t put on right. Once he looked in the mirror, the panic kind of set in. He attempted to rub it in, but only succeeded at rubbing it all across his face. It took a while and a large amount of wet wipes to scrub his face clean.
On Friday, it was I who made the mistake. Instead of taking a lamppost off the stage, I accidently left it on. Needless to say, having a lamppost in the middle of a house was quite funny. I was actually unaware of my mistake until a furious and anxious Mr. Sanderson burst backstage to find someone to take it off the stage. Awkwardly, I had to go onstage in the middle of the scene and carefully remove it.
On Saturday, hair gel was the culprit. A cast member decided to try out some hair gel, which turned out to be a very glue-like substance. It matted the cast member’s hair down and he had to spend intermission washing it out.
Despite these slip-ups, the play was still amazing.
