The Tempe Prep boys baseball team is primed for an exciting season. Already, they have defeated some extremely tough competitors, including a team two divisions above them and one of their toughest competitors from last year. Player Sebastian Gongora says his goal for the team this season is,” to make it further in the playoffs than we have in past seasons, and hopefully to win state.”
The team’s success is due, in part, to their numerous talented players. They have many experienced players on the team, who have been playing baseball starting with little league teams when they were very young. One of these players, freshman Sebastian Gongora, has been playing baseball since age three.
Sebastian really loves the game of baseball, and he describes some of his favorite things about the sport: “I love playing on the team, and getting to play with my teammates and friends. I also really enjoy the competitive spirit in baseball.” Sebastian’s family is very orientated, and for much of his baseball career, his dad has been his coach. His dad is also a former pro-baseball player, and Sebastian cites him as inspiration.
The boys baseball team also thrives on the team spirit and friendship found amongst the players. They recently travelled to a tournament in Bisbee and it was a great chance for the team to have a lot of fun and get closer. Although they did not win all the games at the tournament, they still had loads of fun and they had a great time regardless.
All in all, I think that the Tempe Prep boys’ baseball team has an exciting season in store for them, and it definitely would be worthwhile to attend one of their up-coming games. Who knows, you may witness the team’s next awesome win, incredible home-run, or amazing catch.
