Track may be one of the hardest sports to play. There is no ball to chase, or goal to score. There is nothing but running. It is the purest form of athleticism in sports: a bunch of people run different lengths to find out who is faster. If that sounds terrible to you, then you share my point of view. But our Knights have not only found enjoyment in track and field, they have worked to achieve excellence in their events.
The Knights began their season with a practice meet at McClintock High School. Due to McClintock’s size, this meet was an especially challenging one. However, the Knights managed to win several events, including the Men’s 4 by 400. The success in this meet carried over into the Chandler Prep Invitational. While the team was missing more than half its runners due to vacations, those who could make it ran hard and several achieved personal records in their events.
Junior Kat Camberg said, “I think we’re going to perform much better in upcoming meets. We have a lot of talented team members so it should be exciting!”
Even if you hate running, like most sane people, watching your friends battle on the track is a great experience. So make sure to attend the Knights’ upcoming meets and cheer them on towards state!
