As disappointing as it is, high school football is officially over, but it ended strong. The team beat Parker High School to advance to their first playoff game against Gilbert Christian.
The game at Gilbert Christian was a powerful win, beginning with a losing score, and pulling through hard to a 44-37 win.
Moving on to the next playoff game that would have led them to semi-finals, Coach Joshua Brittain told the team, “Because of your heart, and your willingness to play for 48 minutes, and never say die, and never give up, we’re playing next Friday!”
Unfortunately, the team suffered a tough loss with a trailing half-time score of 51-7, and a final score of 65-15.
This is the last season of football played by seniors, and as senior football player Liam Collins says, they are disappointed about the failure to make it to the championship, especially since it is his last year on the team. But, he adds, “These were the best years of my life and the lessons and memories I’ve taken from football will always be with me forever.”
Collins also speaks about the freshmen, since it is their first year, saying that they have a bright future if they work hard.
With that, the 2017 Tempe Prep Football season concludes. Let’s keep the pride and passion in our hearts to push just as hard and harder next year!
