Golf is nothing like the rest of the sports at TPA. There is no senior night, and a completely different setup on how teams are decided. Those who are on the competitive team aren’t decided by age, and this year it had few seniors.
Brooke Kirk, a freshman who played on both teams, had this to say about both teams: “I enjoyed playing no matter what team I was on. When I was just practicing with the non-competitive team, I got to practice on taking fewer swings and just getting better at the game. When it was time to play in the competitive games, I got used to playing under pressure, and learning how to get the scores I needed.”
Not only did some of the freshmen learn valuable skills to improve their golf game, but the relatively young competitive team also bonded. Miguel Guzman, a junior who consistently played on the competitive team, had this to say about the impact this season had on the team: “We didn’t get exactly where we wanted, but we definitely gained a ton of experience and are ready for next year.”
Leaving a great season behind them and with a great season ahead, Tempe Prep Golf has much to look forward to.
