Perhaps you’ve heard people humming catchy tunes in the halls throughout the school day. Or maybe you’ve heard some muffled voices behind the doors of the Zelman Center early on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Or did you hear the National Anthem being sung beautifully at the homecoming football game? There’s a good chance that the people you hear are in Tempe Prep’s high school choir, Cantamus. The selective club has about 60 talented singers from all grades of high school. Everyone who participates — truly everyone — loves it.

The leaders of Cantamus are just as excited as its participants. Director Aimee Stewart is ecstatic to be directing the choir for her second year. “I am so excited for the new music this year,” she says, “and we have a lot of great instrumental variety.” Mrs. Stewart is also excited to see what the new year will bring. “Last year was great,” she remembers, “and we all learned a lot. Now that I’m here for a second time, I’m hoping that we as a choir can build off of the foundation that we put together last year.”

Mrs. Stewart’s enthusiasm and dedication will fuel the choir! Senior Abbi Harb, president of Cantamus, is just as excited. “I am very happy to say that the members are very enthusiastic about the music selections and scheduling for this year,” she says. “We have so much young talent this year, so Cantamus can flourish in future years.” Both leaders care about, and are excited to work with, the choir.

Perhaps even more exciting is Cantamus’s dessert concert coming up in November! If Music be the Fruit of Love is scheduled for Nov. 17. Come support Cantamus, eat delicious desserts, and listen to beautiful music. Break a leg, Cantamus!
