Imagine singing in front of a room full of people, bright lights shining in your face. This is what 10th and 11th graders had to do in their most recent concert. This concert has been done for eight years.
The concert was held just across the street at Grace Community Church. The 10th graders sang many songs, such as With Cat Like Tread, Hallelujah Chorus, and Duetto Buffo Di Due Gatti, a song about two cats (which included a lot of “meow”-ing from the singers). They also sang Gaudeamus Igitur, TPA’s alma mater. Mrs. Wilkison, the 10th-grade music teacher, liked seeing “how extremely well the students did.” She claims Hallelujah was the most enjoyable song. Following that, 11th graders sang Danny Boy, Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho, and others. To end the night, sophomores and juniors together sang Oh What a Beautiful Morning from Oklahoma!, and Home on the Range.
Another concert, the Fine Arts Dessert Concert, happened on Saturday, Nov. 17. There were lots of people watching and enjoying delicious desserts. Madison Hanosh and David Smith started off the concert with a TPA rendition of Be Our Guest, accompanied by Dr. Wolfe. The rendition was written up by Dr. Wolfe and Mr. Sanderson, who came to Madison and David with the idea. They started practicing about two months before.
The concert went on, with songs from Bel Canto, Cantamus, and Sinfonia. One song Cantamus sang was If Music Be the Food of Love going with the dessert theme. Mrs. Wilkison accompanied Catherine Ross in a Violin Concerto in A Minor by Accolay. The concert concluded, and the audience applauded.
