Girls basketball players became team both on and off the court

Let’s give it up for the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team for giving it their all this season. Despite not making it to state, they never failed to try their hardest every game.

Senior team captain Gracie Newman talks about how much potential all the girls have, they just need to come to practice and put everything into it.

Tykiera Jordan, another senior team captain, wants to improve by “lifting the heads of others on the court” and teach the girls to fight through it.

On the other hand, Gracie wants to “play hard, well, even harder, and never quit.” They both want the team as a whole to realize their full potential and play to their full talents.

While both captains are beyond sad that this is their last year, they hope the team continues to grow and “more girls are encouraged to join,” adds Tykiera. Gracie hopes to “leave my values with them.” Both of them plan on continuing to play basketball in college.

The end of the season does not, however, mean the end of their camaraderie as a team. Tykiera Jordan remarks about their “team chemistry” and how they “watched movies and volunteered together” to become closer. They became a team both on and off the court.
