Comedy! Singing! Dancing! And so much more! Tempe Prep’s Talent Show is almost here! Auditions have occurred and 16 talented contestants will be practicing to try to secure your vote during the production on Feb. 22. Three hardworking seniors and a group of other students have worked very hard this year and last, so that this year’s talent show will be one for the books.
This year’s talent show is a carefully organized production created to include everybody, and support one another’s personalities through some friendly competition. Auditions occurred Jan. 28-31, and now 16 students and/or faculty members are chosen. However, that is not the only way to participate in 2020’s talent show. Senior Josh Hudson explains, “We use an audience-based vote, and everybody who comes to our show gets to choose the winners themselves.” This system provides fun for everybody and gives the three winners a fun prize as well!
Now you may be wondering how this show came to be. Well it was the work of Josh Hudson, Anah Hargrove, and Tykiera Jordan, three talented seniors, and their work on the Student Life Committee. They first got this idea from seeing other schools and wanting something special for TPA students to show off their personality.
Anah states, “Tempe Prep can be even greater if we can have something that everybody can be a part of and enjoy together.” This is what the talent show is all about and these seniors cannot wait for you to see all the magic and hard work come together for a second time this year.
If you went to last year’s talent show you were probably thoroughly impressed. Tykiera says, “For it being the first time of trying something new like this, it went extremely well and we hope this year will be even better.” Last year the talent show even ran out of seats! So, there are very high hopes for this year plus the talent show has a much more organized front and they are even using technology to run the voting process. Each contestant will get a phone number, and at the end of the show, the audience will text the number of their favorite contestants. Based on the number of texts per each participant, the one with the most texts, will be the winner of TPA’s Got Talent 2020!
Wow! The talent show sure does sound incredible right? With 16 participants, an audience-based vote, improvements from last year, and it all being created by three seniors and students themselves, this year’s talent show is going to be an amazing production! The talent show occurs on Feb. 22 so make sure to be there and vote for your favorite act!
