Coach Richardson helping track team members train on their own

By Spencer Bodow

At Tempe Prep, sports have always been a tool to bring people together. And with the wide range of events, track and field has the ability to bring the most diverse athletes together. Still, when circumstances prevent people from being brought together, the sport remains.

The Tempe Prep track team has not given up on their sport. Throughout this period, Coach Mark Richardson has been staying in contact with the athletes. Providing them with workouts, Coach Richardson has been keeping his team active. The workouts are nothing too hardcore, rather routines that allow the athletes have something productive to do.

The most obvious hurdle for the athletes is simply motivation. However, these are Tempe Prep athletes. They know the value of work and are continuing to strive for greatness. Junior Allison Youngs says she wants “to make the most of this and hopefully come out of this stronger.” An attitude like this is very beneficial, not just for sports but also in life.

The world is definitely not where it wants to be right now, but with the mindset of the track team, it may not be all that catastrophic. So stay safe, stay active, and stay positive as much as you can.
