From thesis defenses to baking cookies, seniors stay busy

By Sanjana Thimmidi

Staying home has hit all of us hard, and no one understands that more than the seniors. As a result of our current situation, treasured senior activities like prom, senior graduation, and senior dinner have been cancelled or postponed. Faculty and administration are currently looking into either holding these activities online via platforms like Zoom or possibly postponing them until later in the year. Despite how dreary things may seem, the seniors are finding ways to stay hopeful, happy, and busy.

Seniors have been keeping busy by practicing for or attending other seniors’ senior thesis defenses which started recently. Senior thesis is a great culmination of all of your work at TPA. be sure to check one out before they’re gone.

It’s also that time of the year when seniors have to decide what college they want to go to. Many seniors have already made the decision, while others still weigh their options. For example, Senior Oliver Ricken has committed to Pitzer College.

cookiesIt is not all work though. Senior Lily Welter decided to stay positive by baking cookies and delivering them to her fellow seniors. She realized how difficult the situation has been for all of us and decided to make the best of it. In fact, it was her mom who told her that baking would help her mood, so Lily decided that she would. Along with the cookies, she left little inspirational notes for each of her friends. When asked why she did this, she said she merely wanted to “brighten my friends’ day.”

Even though we are all going through tough times, we can still lean on each other for support, metaphorically of course.
