Through all of this confusion and uncertainty, there is always still a light at the end of the tunnel. Also, as it would seem, there happens to be a few lights in the tunnel too. As we all know, the Covid-19 outbreak has caused many cancellations, such as high school and professional sports, public gatherings, and school itself.

With all this negativity, there seems to be little to no light, but as we know, “when one door closes, another opens” – Alexander Graham Bell.

Through this time, many people are able to see the good, and do amazing things, such as picking up new hobbies, interests, or even finding ways to get some more cash.

Kelly Clark, a junior who picked back up origami during this time, says, “In 8th grade we did paper cranes, but I didn’t think much about it, until my coronacation. To me, they symbolize hope and peace, so I decided to start making a lot of them for friends and family, just as a reminder, that we will all get through this.”

Kelly couldn’t have said it better. Other than the fact that she picked back up paper crane making to pass time, she also looked for the good in these troublesome times.

Sam Campbell, another Tempe Prep junior, found a way to make some extra money. He says, “While minimizing social distancing, I’ve still found a way to do some yard work to make some money.” Sam utilized this time by, instead of moping about, putting his hands to work to make some money. Sam has acquired over $200 in just a matter of weeks.

So go put your hands to work and learn something new. Pick up a new instrument or hobby and find something you’re good at. Look for small safe ways to earn some extra money. This time may be hard, but something to keep our mind off of the bad can make you see all the good that there is.
