It’s up and time freezes… you see the Lady Knights dive for the ball… BOOM! The game is saved by a last-minute dive! Volleyball is a very fun game to watch and play, and our very own Lady Knights do it best.
The Lady Knights volleyball team has had a phenomenal season this year, undefeated in conference games and going 11-2 overall. They have pushed strong all the way to the state semifinals where they were unfortunately defeated by the “team that went on to win state,” says Hailey Henderson. However, getting there was no easy journey. The Lady Knights have had to work very hard as a team and individually to make it this far.
With encouraging words and spikes of morale from seniors on the team, such as Bree Van Dahm, the team has been able to work hard and prosper this year despite the unusual circumstances regarding Covid-19. Although Covid-19 is making life difficult and uncomfortable for all of us right now the Lady Knights have been “learning how to work as a team and communicate,” which in turn, “brought us all the way to state” explains Bree.
Regardless of how the season ended the Lady Knights have still had one of their best seasons, working hard and playing well. Many players are sad to see the season end and are going to “miss playing volleyball,” says Bree with a solemn tone. Nonetheless, with hard work and dedication the Lady Knights have made it far and accomplished a lot.
It is quite astonishing what they are able to accomplish in this time of hardships and I encourage you to go see a game or two next year if you were unable to make one this year. What great year for volleyball this has been.
