Yearbook editors planning big improvements

Amid the current pandemic, getting things together for the yearbook can be a bit of a struggle. However, seniors Maya Kostov and Grace McQuaid have some exciting news. Over the past few years, the two of them have been taking the yearbook in a new direction. The summer of junior year, Mr. Schuster approached Maya and Grace wondering if they would be interested in taking the yearbook in a different direction.

When comparing past yearbooks to their new and improved version, Maya said: “It was a great memory book, but more like a collage rather than a yearbook.” She explained that the biggest changes they made to the yearbook were organizational. They now have a partnership with the school newspaper, so there are articles in the yearbook that they thought were an important part of the year.

They also are dividing the yearbook up seasonally, so that the events and sports flow chronologically. They also have moved the faculty to a different spot in the yearbook. “They teach us, they make us who we are,” Maya said while explaining that they felt like the faculty was not getting enough recognition in the yearbook.

Maya also said that there are some new exciting things coming to the yearbook this year, but would like to keep them a surprise. She also asks everyone to submit as many photos from the year as possible because of how difficult it is to get photos during COVID. You can submit your photos to Maya and Grace via email.
