Serena Andria sets sights on fashion industry

By Peyton Berry

The world of design is a creative place. You can design so many different things, the choices are endless. Serena Andria, a senior at Tempe Prep, is already taking online classes at a school of design! When asked what made her decide on a school of design she said, “I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in the fashion industry so I looked up programs revolving around it and found these two.”

SerenaSerena picked the two different classes for design on topics that interested her. The first program is called Business of Fashion and Luxury. Serena said this class “focused on the broader aspect of careers in fashion.” In this program she had to do homework, go through courses, and watch videos. Towards the end of the program, she had to do a final assignment to finish the program and then she can move on to her next program.

Her next program is called Fashion Industry Essentials. That “was a self-paced program that took a deeper dive into each of the careers,“ but there are more in-depth videos and courses with more complicated assignments. At the end of this program Serena said she had to send a portfolio of her work, her aesthetic, and a description of what makes her brand her brand.

Serena added she is “more interested in styling and the business side of fashion rather than creating a product. I like showing the product off and marketing it. I’m even leaning toward becoming a brand manager or just a leader of a company.” She also doesn’t want to be the kind of company owner or brand manager that just sits around all day. She wants to be the kind that is the leader of some sort of big project and gets to travel a lot.

Serena is on her way to doing great things in the design world. Maybe one day you can do an online program for design like Serena! The world of design has millions of opportunities.
