Outdoor Club invites students to join

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” Though Albert Einstein did not attend TPA, he shares this mindset with some who do: Tamsin and Hazel Hurlbut. While on a hike with their family, they decided that TPA was lacking a club centered around the great outdoors.

“I think that I started it because I love the outdoors,” said Tamsin, “and I’ve grown up in a family where I have the resources and my dad has the skills… So I think it’s cool to teach people while they’re young how to be outdoors – how to build a fire, escape a bear, things like that.”

The club is sponsored by Mr. Keating. They try to meet twice a month on Fridays. The club is open to all grades. “I think that nature is really grounding for a human being, especially for students.”

Though Tamsin has ambitious ideas, she said, “For now I just want to teach people skills and have fun.”
