Golfers say they will play for life

Tempe Prep Golf is aiming high this year. Brooke Kirk, a TPA senior, has played on the golf team for the last four years. “I started playing golf freshman year because I thought it would be fun, and that is definitely why I still play,” she said. “I think compared to other sports, golf is less high stress. Matches are pretty laid back and an opportunity to meet people from new schools, and our coaches make practices fun.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed a lot of things, but in terms of golf, it stays pretty neutral. “Golf is a pretty individual sport, which helps make Covid precautions easier,” Brooke said. “Masks must be worn indoors but are optional when everyone is spaced out playing their own game.”

Brooke enjoys golf not just as a current sport, but as a hobby that she can continue in the future. “Even now on the weekends I play with my friends for fun, so it will be something I continue to do for fun, hopefully for the rest of my life!”

The golf team has lots of hope for this season. “The season has just begun, but with a new set of freshman manpower, we are hoping to win many tournaments this year!”  Brooke said. Go Knights!
