The TPA high school wrestlers brought the heat this season!
With the wrestling season coming to an end, the team accomplished many things. Led by coach David DeSilva, the wrestlers worked their hardest to improve as much as possible. Though they are a small team, the wrestlers focused on setting goals for themselves and working to achieve them.
Junior Texas Perez says, “There has been a lot of improvement in all of our wrestlers since the start of the season.” For instance, freshman Joey Jones won second place at one tournaments. Many of the wrestlers made personal improvements as well.
During the all-day meets, the wrestlers compete in their matches and advance in their rounds until they are eliminated. Junior and captain Nick Murray explains that the season has been going well despite some complications. He says, “We had a slow start due to COVID and injuries but we are back on our feet. We have been doing well at meets [and] getting a lot of matches.” He expressed his gratitude for a season more normal than last year.
The team’s next meet is scheduled for Feb. 1 against Seton Catholic Prep.
