Dodgeball, relay races and Hungry Hungry Hippos are a few of the many games Tempe Prep students participated in during Athletic Field Day. On Mar. 23, students met at the TPA Gym at Redemption Church, and competed in several activities with their assigned teams.
The theme of the teams this year was “movies,” ranging from “Tangled” to “Wreck-it-Ralph,” and the games were for everyone, the athletes and the brainiacs alike. Games like tug-of-war required pure strength, while others, like water-balloon volleyball tested strategy and technique
Gabe Ross, junior co-leader of the “Madagascar” team, says, “I had so much fun leading a group as a junior, and I can’t wait to lead another group next year.”
At the end of the day, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” came out on top, with a record of 9-0-2. But that win was not easy, since there was a new challenge presented.
This year, the top three teams with the best record competed in a relay race around the field on adult tricycles. The scene would have been humorous if the tension was not so intense.
Senior leaders of the Ninja Turtles, Gracie Smaw and Jasmine Duran, said, “We had so much charisma” and “we included the middle schoolers,” which they said helped them win.
