During the Fall Spirit Week, everyone showed off their school spirit before the Homecoming game and dance on the following Friday and Saturday.
The week of Sept. 19th included Country vs. Country Club day, College day, Wacky Wednesday, “Zoom” day and Brains, Beauty and Brawns day.
SeniorClark Campbell, the Spirit Week coordinator, says that the original plan was different from what actually happened. He says “ ‘Zoom’ day was added almost (at the) last second, and I think it was pretty awesome.” Sixth-grader Lukas Frazier agrees that “Zoom” day was an awesome part of his first spirit week at TPA because students were able to dress up as they would while they were attending school on Zoom. He says, “I liked Zoom Day because it was comfortable and made me feel grateful to be back on campus after the past few years.”
Spirit Week ended with a pep rally where spirit awards were presented to those who showed the most spirit throughout the week. The cheerleaders performed a routine, presented “Spirit Boxes” with gifts for the football players and the senior cheerleaders and football players faced off in a lip-sync battle. For their memorable performance of “Single Ladies,” the football players won a special prize: a pie to the face!
Pep rally coordinators, seniors Zoe Diez de Medina and Estevan Roig, both recommend that students attend student life meetings to give their input for future events. Estevan says one of the trickiest parts about planning the pep rallies is getting the timing right for all of the items on the agenda.
Zoe says, “I thought the pep rally went really well and had the whole school getting excited for the homecoming game.” She also loved watching the football team get pied in the face. Zoe and Estevan take lots of time to plan and organize pep rallies and hope that the student body and faculty enjoyed them.
At the football game, new TPA mascot Sir Knight made his first appearance and cheered on the football team. Sir Knight’s costume was a gift from the Class of 2022 and will be a great addition to school events for years to come.
