There are many clubs that are on hiatus at TPA and are open for students to revive.
Sophomore Sage Huppenthal has decided to take on this task and revive the Environmental Club. Sage deeply cares about the environment and their main goals for the clubare to “[provide] outside of school volunteer opportunities, presentations and guest speakers talking about how to help our environment and help the school be more environmentally friendly.”
When Sage and their sister, Ava, were vacationing in Hawaii they noticed the devastating condition of the coral reefs. They noted that the coral reefs were “almost dead due to global warming.” This instance inspired the siblings to take action. Sage says, “We wanted to see what we could do to help.” Sage and Ava decided to bring back the TPA Environmental Club in an effort to make effective change.
The club currently meets after school every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sage and Ava hope to eventually introduce compost buckets and a more organized trash pickup at school. If enough members join, they will also incorporate volunteer opportunities. Contact Sage of Ava if you are interested in joining and creating a more sustainable environment.
