Race cars! “Blooket!” Paper airplanes!
This year, TPA’s Academic Field Day featured several fun contests, activities and teams. Teams competed with each other and in the end, the “Swedish Fish” team came out on top. The “100 Grand” team placed second and the “High Chews” team placed third. The first-place team earned a lunch of pizza, garlic bread and Oreos.
Some of the fan-favorite stations included “Who Drew it Best? People and Places,” “Airplanes and Catapults – TPA Style” and “Don’t Rain On My Charade.”There were also classic challenges that have appeared in many past Academic Field Days, such as “Humanities Head-to-Head,” “Krypto Math” and “Grammar School – Sentence Building.”
This year, the Academic Field Day theme was candy brands. With teams including “Gummy Bears” and “M & M’s,” middle school and high school students enjoyed dressing up and wearing accessories that showcased their team spirit. The senior leaders also brought sugary treats which were enjoyed by younger and older grades alike. Academic Field Day is not a new activity. In fact, it is a TPA tradition that has dating back to the school’s founding.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a short hiatus prevented it from happening, but now Academic Field Day is back. With the revamping and addition of stations, coordinator Mr. Lambros is looking forward to continuing this TPA tradition for years to come.
