Each year before Homecoming, Tempe Prep has a Spirit Week. Beloved by many, people put in a lot of effort into their outfits each year.
Lilly Sabo, a 9th grader, comments that it’s “beneficial to have at least one week to express ourselves.” Full-dress days are easily the most admired by students as it allows them to customize each piece of clothing.
Having students come in these stylish outfits does not diminish from Tempe Prep’s community and wholeness, however. TPA can look uniform by having the student’s spirit shine through in select times of the year by all wearing the same genre of clothing.
Decade’s Day was selected as the full-dress theme for the most recent spirit week and many gather in this fun week of dressing up to change some of the monotony that comes with wearing a uniform every day.
This week not only helps students show off their style but also ramps up excitement for Homecoming.
This was Lilly’s first high school dance and she says that even though Tempe Prep is on the smaller side, it is really cool to see the impressive turn out at dances.
Dances like homecoming are a great way to connect with other high school students and have some fun while dancing, eating, and playing games.
Lilly also mentions that hoco’s DJ was really intuitive and played good music.
While dances such as homecoming are exclusive to high school students, spirit weeks are open for every student of Tempe Prep. If you did not participate in either of these this time around, do not worry because more exciting spirit-events are coming!
