As fall progresses and the days get colder, the Tempe Prep football team’s plays get hotter and hotter. At all of the recent football games, cheering fans have filled the stands and encouraged the motivated team to do their best.
Not only has the varsity team been doing exceptionally well, but also the junior varsity football team has been making some great accomplishments. Freshman Carter Sampson says, “JV is 2-0 and crushed both teams. Max Rich threw for two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions, all of which were to me. He also did 100-plus yards in both games.”
Tempe Prep is so lucky to have such talented athletes who participate in multiple sports, only furthering our success. Shout out to all of the varsity members who also play junior varsity for working hard and putting in effort to both teams. On the varsity side of things, senior Jacob Brown explains how spirit and mentality help the team get through practice and games: “We put in the hard work during the off season and it’s paying off. We have a tough section but are undefeated against teams in our division, and hope to win out for our regular season and have a strong stride as we go into the playoffs.”
Carter also adds some insight on how the season has gone thus far: “We are 5-2, and our two losses were against two of the better teams in the division above us. Ranked number 2 in Division 5, we had aclose game with Valley Christian where Isaiah Britain ran 29 times – 200-plus yards.”
By working together and staying motivated, the TPA football team has met great heights so far and will continue to do so throughout the whole season. We are all excited to see our home team make it to the playoffs this year. Go Knights!
