Strength and speed are boys teams hallmarks
By Maya Kostov
The junior high boys basketball teams are off to a great start with many eventful practices. The best thing about this season is the familiarity between the teammates. It really allows them to interact on a more personal level which makes the season and all of the games so much more meaningful.
Because none of them could actually answer my question by themselves, Adam Lucero, Louis Ternyik, and Hayden Sampson said that if they were to describe the basketball team this season in eight words they would use, “coachable, fast, short, experienced, cooperative, strong, disciplined, and determined.”
That just goes to show the belief and trust that this year’s basketball players have with one another. The boys B team has been working tremendously hard and has had a good start this season. The boys A team won their first game by only one point, and are getting better as the season progresses. Go Knights!
Girls’ skills improve through early practices
By Hayden Sampson
Although it is very early in the season, the junior high girls basketball team is off to a great start with a 2-0 record, and fans should look for an exciting season. As their first game against Arete, they pulled out a close overtime win. During their most recent game, they delivered a thorough beating to Lincoln Prep.
Sophie Muniz, an eighth grader, says, “We’ve grown a lot through the first couple practices, and have really gotten to know each other. I’m really glad to be with this team.”
The junior high program has been steadily growing, and with each new generation of players the future brightens. With much of the season ahead of them, the players have much to look forward to. Good luck Lady Knights!
