There are few things harder than wrestling, and as a new program just getting started, things are looking up. With head coach DeSilva III at the helm, senior Max Hoyt, and junior Jonathan Phelan, who both went to state last year, look to return again, alongside senior Brendan Phelan. While it is Brendan’s first year with the team, he is already at a great start at 3-3 in the recent tournament.

Not only is the season going well for the seniors, but the underclassmen as well. It is a building year and a few of the freshman are really getting into it. Freshman Louis Ternyik, who has begun his first year of wrestling, is getting better every day and gaining respect for his newfound teammates. He says, “We are a hard-working group, and we have the will to learn and get better. Wrestling is hard, just like life, and that’s why I like it.”

Meanwhile, another freshman wrestler, Lillian Moffatt, brings a new perspective to the team: “I never really thought about wrestling before, but I went to the meeting and it seemed like something no one else had done, and said, ‘Might as well do it.’ It’s been a great experience.”
