Playing soccer with your feet is one thing, but playing soccer with your heart is another, and that is exactly what the varsity boys soccer team did from start to finish.
These boys fought immensely hard, and earned every win they got. They had an overall record, including a tournament, of 10-4-4 with 4 tied games and 4 losses. Their section record was 7-0 which shows so much determination and effort.
During every single game, every single practice, and every single lap that they had to run in practice, each player reassured themselves why they were playing this sport; simply because they love it, and that’s all anyone can ask for. If you put your heart on the field, the other team is definitely going to have a hard time beating you.
Unfortunately, the team lost to Horizon Honors in their first playoff game, but they didn’t lose without a fight. The game ended with a result of 5-3, but the score was tied for most of the game. Evenly matched opponents, just one team had a bit more luck.
Seniors Ed Pivonka, Carter Sampson, George Allen Sarsar, Cameron Pickard, Caden Van Dahm, Tyler Trevillyan, Trevor Kerber, and Blake Carter led the team through an amazing season. And with new Freshmen such as Hayden Sampson, Evan Hackett, and Spencer Bodow as new additions to the team, this team will only get better.
Freshman Hayden Sampson says, “The seniors have been great this year, and I couldn’t have asked for better ones. I’m really going to miss them next year, and it won’t be the same without them. This year has been so great and I can’t wait for next year.”
It’s amazing to see how easy it is to create a fun atmosphere that creates a close-knit team, and that if you work hard, everything is possible! Go Knights!
