While the Tempe Prep boys basketball team fell just short of their end of season goals, this season was one that did not go down in vain. While the Tempe Prep basketball team has struggled over this season and the last few seasons, all-in-all the future looks bright.
The team has rejuvenated itself with a speed-based game on the court with this season being their best out of the last three. While the season started out slow, the team then found its pace, earning a convincing win against Chandler Prep last weekend.
“The season definitely started out slow for me,” says senior Ahmad Jones, one of the team’s leading scorers this season. “After taking last season off, it definitely took a while to find my rhythm again. But I eventually found that rhythm and began playing at my normal pace.”
While the team has not always looked the greatest in the past, the mix of team veterans who have taken lessons from losing, and newcomers who intend to establish a winning culture for the Knights boys basketball team, brings together an effective mesh of players for next season.
“Of course, if they work hard, the future is always bright,” Jones says. Indeed, if this group of players finds their chemistry next year, works hard, and learns from their past, they will no doubt establish a winning basketball team here at Tempe Prep.
