As we embark on the sixth week of school, some of the sixth graders are still adjusting to their new environment. We went around and asked some sixth graders about how they were adjusting to middle school.
One student named David Gonzalez said, “I like how we have different teachers for each subject, because when teachers are planning their lessons, they can stay more organized.”
Parke Shepherd said, “Switching between classes can be difficult sometimes, because of getting stuff from our locker. But I like switching classes, and it’s more organized that way.”
We also asked about how our classmates are adjusting to homework, and Joey O’Connor said, “For me personally, the homework isn’t that overwhelming. There’s a lot of it, but during Paideia I can finish a subject or two.”
Overall, most students say that they are adjusting well, because not only did they make friends quickly or knew somebody, but most are able to make time to do their homework. On the other hand, a few students said that they loved the sports offered at TPA because the activities were a good way to get to know people and socialize.
The journey of middle school is a big change. Some kids are still getting used to the middle school way but some others are already used to it. It isn’t just a regular middle school; Tempe Prep is a school where you have to work hard, but there are great advantages for you.
