Did you do anything cool over the summer? Well, one junior, Rebecca Stein, participated in an extremely cool charity basketball camp. Rebekah (front right in photo) went to Baker, Louisiana, for the Diontrey Claiborne Stop the Violence basketball camp.
The Diontrey Claiborne Stop the Violence LLC started when Diontrey Claiborne was unfortunately killed and his family and others started it to do some good in his name. He was passionate about basketball, so they created a basketball program in his honor.
There was only 50 participants and Rebecca was lucky enough to be one of them. She was actually the only one who came in from out of town. She “did skills, scrimmages” and at the end “played a charity game.” Her team even won the charity game and she won the overall camp Most Valuable Player award!
She also got to meet the mayor of Baker and take a picture with him. She describes it as a “great experience” and she can’t wait to do it again. This is a great camp for anyone who is interested in basketball and wants to improve their skills.
