There is no doubt that wrestling isn’t easy. It takes all of the wrestler’s energy for a full six minutes. And in that time, anything can happen, from flipping to tackling to biting (if the ref isn’t looking). However, as wrestlers have found out, it is a sport all about becoming the best as an individual person, and becoming the best form of oneself as the athlete can possibly be.
Says sophomore Louis Ternyik, “Wrestling is a sport about personal improvement. I know that if I put everything I can into every practice and every match, all that matters is the fact that I am getting better. Leadership comes in when the younger wrestlers need help, and it’s great to assist those that need help.,But when it comes to game time, I only have my effort to trust.”
For those starting out with no wrestling experience, it can be hard to get off on the right foot. However, senior A’ser Mostafa, who has joined wrestling for the first time this year, has only good things to say about it so far: “There is nothing better than to test how far I can go as a wrestler. On the other hand, as a leader and a first-year player, I’m so excited to see how great this team can be, and what we can do as a group as well as individuals.”
Never easy but always rewarding, wrestling has something that can’t be found in other sports.
