“I remember having barely enough players my freshman year to have a team,” says girls soccer senior captain Morgan Cryder. “Now we have 29 girls and things are looking up.” With talent from all grade levels, this is very true.
In the team’s scrimmage at the beginning of the season against Valley Christian, our Lady Knights came ready to play and thoroughly beat the Trojans 3-2. “We lost to them 11-0 two years ago and so it was nice to come back, look at our improvement and know that we really can go far this year.”
In addition, the girls have also competed in some pretty close games against some of the best teams in the region. In a game against Glendale Prep, the girls secured a tie with goals from Junior Lauren Casey and Freshman Caroline Webster.
Last weekend in the Chandler Prep tournament, the Lady Knights tied Caesar Chavez and delivered a defeat against Paradise Honors with a 5-3 score, along with a 6-1 win against Division 4 Marcos de Niza.
Sophomore Bree Van Dahm says about the rest of the season, “We have played some of the better teams in our division already. Things can only get better from here.”
With so much of the season left and with so much talent, our soccer supporters can expect a lot from the girls. “There are so many more games to win, and our girls have no limit to what we can do,” Bree continues.
With a game coming up against NFL Yet High School, our girls look to grab their first conference win. Let’s go Knights!
