Girls Basketball

VarG bsktbll 004During September, the United States routed Australia, 73-56, in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Here at Tempe Prep, the next generation of women’s basketball is showcasing their skills on the court. Their season has gone through the ups and downs most teams go through, but the lady knights have been able to persevere despite that.

The team has finished their season with 9 wins and 9 losses after an intense final game against Gilbert Classical. Injuries had been plaguing the team, and this was a must-win game. Fortunately, the girls were able to come out on top, winning by 19 points, and securing themselves another game.

The season has been filled with lots of fun, friends, and memories. Maya Kostov comments on it, saying, “This team is such a joy to be around, and I am so proud of everything we have done together.” There will be a play-in game for the girls this week to make a statement and start their playoff run.

Boys Basketball

VarB bsktbll 004With only four returning players from last year, the boys basketball team was not put in the greatest situation to start. Nevertheless, the team was able to piece together a good season, although the record does not reflect how the team played. The team of 13 put a lot of sweat and hard work into the season.

The team put together a foundation for years to come at Tempe Prep. Hayden Sampson says, “We may not have gotten the results we wanted, but we feel good going into next year.” The team is happy with the way their season went, but not completely satisfied. The boys will look to have a big year next year.
