The Tempe Prep baseball team wrapped up another incredible season this past week. They had a 3-game winning streak going into their first play-in game, and sadly lost to Tombstone on Tuesday.
The team definitely had many talented players this year, and should do well next year despite losing three seniors. A lot of work throughout the season was put in
to make the team a well-oiled machine.
The baseball team definitely had their ups and downs. Starting with many new players, some who hadn’t played before, to a 29-1 victory over Gilbert Classical Academy.
Both Senior Carter Brown and Junior Nolan Nicholson made 1st team position player, and Senior Griffin Bodow made 1st team for catcher. Sophomores Spencer Bodow and Jake Medlen made 2nd team position player, and Sophomore Kenneth Russell made 2nd team for catcher. Senior Nick Hudson also made 2nd team position player. In addition, Griffin Bodow took most valuable offensive player and Carter Brown took most valuable defensive player.
This year, we say goodbye to three of our seniors. Griffin and Nick both agreed that their favorite part of this season was beating Chandler Prep twice, while Carter said, “My favorite part of the season was rallying together as a team to tie Phoenix Christian, the No. 2 team in the state.”
The team achieved remarkable things this season and deserves congratulations! I have full confidence that our Knights will come back ready to play well once again. Go Knights!
