Service hours, good grades, and extracurricular activities – sounds like a lot, right? Well, to be in Tempe Prep’s National Honor Society, these three key ingredients are what students must balance. On April 9, the students that maintained these things were inducted into NHS.
The night went smoothly, with great speeches. The president of NHS, Nile Vanood, remembers the night as “spectacular due to the excellence of everybody’s speeches. Not only did our guest speakers inspire us, but the officers themselves eloquently delivered speeches that gave new perspectives on the pillars of NHS.”
These four pillars are service, scholarship, leadership, and character. Each pillar was represented and spoken about by an officer, who told the audience of parents and inductees why their pillar pertains to NHS and to life in general. Those speeches were phenomenal.
At induction, NHS also honors a teacher. This year, that teacher was Dr. Edward Wolfe, for his dedication to Tempe Prep’s musical education, as well as to all the arts programs and extracurricular activities. He was given a plaque, and gave a speech thanking his wife and Jesus.
Then the keynote speaker, Mr. Chad Sampson, a TPA parent and former board president, gave an excellent speech about lessons in leadership.
Congratulations to our new inductees. NHS is honored to have you.
