Do you want to show school pride and get to display fun club t-shirts? Well, now you can! Every Friday for the whole year students and faculty are now allowed to wear TPA or TPA club and sports assigned shirts! After all the hard work it took, Spirit Friday is now finally here and both students and faculty are very excited to see what Spirit Friday will bring to our school!
Spirit Friday gives students and faculty the opportunity to express their enthusiasm for clubs, sports, and their school spirit. This weekly occurrence already shows great success and excitement throughout the entire student body. Sophomore Kelly Clark says “Spirit Friday gets everyone excited to participate in school spirit,” and she is absolutely correct! The school is already flooded with TPA spirit and we still have 25 Fridays left to go!
While Spirit Friday may be fun for us, it sure took a lot of hard work to accomplish. At first, the Student Life Committee had to work hard with Mr. Keating, the dean and teacher at Tempe Prep, to create a proposal for the school board. However, they ended up not needing a pass, and Dr. Porter loved the idea to see the students so excited for TPA spirit. So after quite a bit of more work from the Student Life Committee and Mr. Keating, Spirit Friday was finally official.
Junior Maya Kostov states, “It took a lot of work, around a whole year, to pass this; but, I’m really happy with how it turned out!” Wow, a whole year, I know I sure am grateful for all the hard work the Student Life Committee and Mr. Keating put in, and I’m sure they cannot wait to see what it still has to bring.
Even the faculty love our new weekly Spirit Friday! Mr. Keating says, “It gives students the opportunity to show their school pride, as well as clubs, sports, or any program they belong to,” which is one of the things that makes Spirit Friday so magnificent. Dr. Porter also expressed interest during the Pep Rally of being able to see all the awesome clubs and sports students get to show off now on every Friday. Spirit Friday has definitely made a good impression upon the whole school, and I know that I cannot wait to see what the future brings for it.
