Sinfonia, Tempe Prep’s student orchestra, brings back several veteran musicians this year – and welcomes a lot of new ones, too. Sinfonia had its first concert of the year on Nov. 19.

The musicians have improved a lot. Catherine Ross, a ninth grader who plays advanced violin, has this to say about this year’s orchestra: “I feel that Sinfonia has improved tremendously. Everyone shows up at rehearsal, which helps strengthen the orchestra when everyone is there.”

The concert, which was at the Zelman Center, was dazzling. Catherine also said this about the performance: “I think the concert went really well. There was a lot of growth and improvement from all groups of the orchestra.”

The orchestra performed nine selections, one of them being Radetsky March. Mrs. Wilkison has worked very hard to make all of this possible. “She comes in three days a week to work with us,” Catherine said. “I am grateful for her teaching and I am proud that I am in the orchestra at Tempe Prep. I cannot wait for the next concert.”

Nice work, Sinfonia!
