- The year does not have to be extended. Tempe Prep planned ahead, and had extra days to use, and still fill the state requirements. Tempe Prep used some of those days during the extension to spring break, which gave teachers a chance to alter their curriculum. Some schools are having to go later into the summer, or have summer classes, but Tempe Prep has got it down.
- You don’t have to wear pants! Not really, but who would know? The main point is that you get to dress more comfortably, sit in more comfortable seats, and other such comfy choices. You can wear your favorite t-shirt, sit on your couch, or even wear your favorite SpongeBob slippers.
- More free time. While some days are just relentless, in general, most of us have more free time. Whether you use it by playing video games, connecting with your family, or swimming in the pool, we all are probably a bit more relaxed.
- Learning on the go. This probably is not as common, but some people have been able to take school work to family cabins, parents’ houses, or even to their grandparents’ house for a while. Of course, this is all up to each parent’s discretion. With normal school, you cannot leave somewhere and expect to be caught up when you get back. As long as you have all your materials and good internet, you can do school just about anywhere.
- No finals! If you like finals, I am sorry, but I think I can speak for most of us when I say, “What a relief!” Finals are a good thing though. They can sum up a year of learning nicely and give you practice for the finals and big tests you’ll have to take in college.
- You get to work on your own time. If you are a night owl, and want to sleep in for the beginning of the day, you can! If you are a morning person and you want to wake up early to get the work out of the way, you can! There are plenty of possibilities (excluding the scheduled zoom classes).
- You have the opportunity to improve yourself. If you are not getting better, you are getting worse. With more time on your hands, you can either work out, or sit and watch TV. You can start a healthy diet, or eat chips for every meal. You can follow a hobby, or you can fall into a slum of laziness. You can be better! Choose the harder choices, and become an even better person. This pandemic wants to take from our lives, but don’t let it! You have the chance to be a better you!
