Have you ever wondered who plans all of our school events? Well here is your answer: It’s Student Life! “Student Life is a student-led club that oversees all social events from pep rallies to dances,” says senior Grace McQuaid. Students collaborate with each other and faculty to plan the best ideas for future events.
Grace also mentions that “Student Life puts in a lot of effort so the events look flawless. A lot goes on behind the scenes and it pays off when you attend an event that you helped create from the beginning.”
Student Life is also in charge of @tpaknightlife on Instagram. This is run by a committee of people in all different grades. Keep your eyes out for future challenges and online events.
Student Life welcomes all high school students who would like to participate and pitch their own ideas to the group. Throughout the whole club, there are specific positions fulfilled by different people in all grades. Senior Kelly Clark explains the significance of each position: “The presidents are normally two seniors who help the other officers with their events and meetings, and planning prom! This year the presidents are Maya Kostov and Kelly Clark.
“Our faculty sponsors are Mr. Keating and Mr. Lambros. Our VPs are each in charge of a dance except our VP of spirit who oversees the pep rally and spirit week committees. Our student treasurers help with the finances and work closely with Mr. Keating to learn about money management, budgeting and sales. Our secretaries help everyone stay organized and make sure no one misses important meetings or information. We also have a lot of student chairs for events. They are the point people for different committees who plan meetings and get input for different dances.”
To guarantee everyone a chance to input their suggestions, there are different committees available for each event. These events include Homecoming, Sadies (trunk or treat), pep rallies, fall spirit week, and powderpuff volleyball and football.
If you are interested in joining Student Life or have any questions regarding future events, contact one of your grade level advisors (listed below). While all positions are filled, anyone is welcome to attend the meetings every other month. Grade Level Advisors: 9th grade – Joseph Cady, Celina Shah, and Natalie Epperson. 10th grade – Connor Clark, Hannah Chadwick, and Kailee Austin. 11th grade – Deizha Saenz, Caiyu Keoviengxay, and Marzuk Hasan. 12th grade – Savannah Vital, Annalisa Roig, Hayden Wisneski, and Malia Williams.
