Personal records, dropping time, and state considerations?! The Tempe Prep swim team has it all! This year’s swim team has very high potential, and they have already proven just how good they are in only four meets. The team’s dedication along with their amazing coaching staff have already made the Knights hard to beat, and with state coming up hopefully their hard work is sure to pay off this year.

The team has improved so much from last year and the athletes have already dropped so much time from their events. Sophomore Amanda Maurer dropped time in her 500 yard free and explained, “After dropping time, I’m only 5 seconds off of achieving my goal of doing sub 6 minutes in my 500 free.”

Every swimmer has put in so much effort which helps them both individually and as a whole. Plus hopefully if the team continues to swim like this then they can achieve their season goal and win state!

Now the swim team certainly has true talent, but that’s not all that is getting them their incredible times. The Tempe Prep coaching staff has been helping the team through it all and the swimmers are very appreciative of it. Amanda explains, “This year Coach Jenn and assistant coaches Maria and Rebekah have been working very hard to make practice safe, fun, and most importantly a good challenge. They push us every night to become the best swimmers we can be!”

The coaching staff truly cares about the team as they work hard not only to help the team improve as a whole, but also each individual. Noah says “I can really tell that they really want us to succeed. They’ve even spoken with us about our individual goals for the season so that they can help us get the most out of the time we have.” The swim coaches really care about their athletes and their encouraging spirit is a very important factor in the team’s overall success.

With only one meet left until state, the team is very excited to see how they’ll do. With lots of hard work and coaches’ help they can definitely do well in their last meets. However they can still use all the support they can get, so make sure to cheer on Tempe Prep’s swim team as they tackle their last events of the season!
