German teacher Herr Gray knows how to tickle the ivories

By Nathan Haug

Many people may think that teachers are only masters of their own teachings. However, many of our teachers at TPA have other talents that are very different from what they teach. Our very own Herr Gray is a perfect example!

Herr GrayHerr Gray teaches the German language here at TPA and does a fantastic job. Although Herr Gray is a bilingual master, he is also a master at tickling the ivories (playing piano). When Herr Gray was just three years old he began to play “tunes by ear” on the piano. When he reached the age of five his parents noticed his talent for playing the piano and started him in lessons. He continued his journey playing the piano becoming very talented, not only in the German language but in a popular instrument.

Herr Gray will commonly play accompaniment for Cantamus and Chamber Choir. Herr Gray was even lucky enough to play accompaniment for some of our curriculum concerts. However, with Covid being apparent in all of our lives, Herr Gray has had some trouble playing with some of the groups.

Since Cantamus is a bigger group, he was not able to play with them this semester, but he was able to play for the Chamber Choir since they are a smaller group.

All of our amazing teachers here are great at their jobs, and almost all of them have more talents than what they do in the classroom!
