Dual enrollment now can make life easier in the future

Dual enrollment, also known as concurrent enrollment, allows students to take high school and college-level courses to earn credits.

At Tempe Prep, several classes qualify for dual-enrollment credit and students do not need to do anything differently than other students in the class. By signing up and paying tuition, Tempe Prep students can earn credits and potentially use them towards their college classes.

“Dual enrollment has . . . allowed me to go study abroad for a whole semester this fall and not fall behind in my classes!” says Tempe Prep alumna Maya Kostov.

Maya graduated last year with a total of 32 dual enrollment credits, 27 of them counting towards her degree.

Dual enrollment classes offered at Tempe Prep allow students to earn college credits through Rio Salado College. As early as ninth grade, students in Latin III can enroll in these clases. For students in other language classes, they must wait until their junior year to receive credits. Juniors and seniors are also able to sign up for dual enrollment for their Humane Letters, math and science classes.

Many seniors from the class of 2022 are on track to graduate with more than 20 credits. The credits will give them more freedom in the college classes they choose to take. Signing up for dual enrollment costs a fraction of the expense of a college class, making the courses advantageous. TPA is proud to be able to offer dual enrollment credit classes, and the students who take advantage of it will be rewarded in the future.
