“Ahhhh! A snake!” These are the words sixth grader Dallas Perez screamed on the recent Outdoor Club hike at Spur Cross Ranch. The hike took place on April 23 and while the club hiked down the trail, a tiny grass snake slithered in front of them. Dallas stepped on it and she said, “It crunched under my foot!”
The club, led by sisters Tamsin and Hazel Hurlbut and sponsor Mr. Keating, hiked a total of seven miles. Eighth graders Elleze van Wyk and Averie Diez de Medina said their favorite part was the swim in the stream after lunch. “The water was so nice!” said sixth grader Madison Genova. The club also had a great time afterward at Earl’s Greasy Eats, where they drank milkshakes and ate french fries.
Be on the lookout for Outdoors Club’s upcoming nature walk at the Botanical Garden in May.
