The Belly and the Members – a Poem by Quinn Collins

The Belly and the Members

A body is comprised of vital parts,

Each part contributes never departs,

Together they support the body’s needs,

Not jarring like some scattered marble beads,

One day this perfect harmony destroyed,

A fight was started which no one enjoyed,

A fight between the stomach and the limbs,

In the pool of anger, Belly swims,

“Repose, indulgence, luxury,” they say,

Is what the Belly does all night and day,

And so the limbs decided halt their work,

Then hunger came and crept out of its lurk,

No energy the body lost its mirth,

The limbs now recognized the Belly’s worth,

Too late, the body did debilitate,

Regret filled limbs, the body loses weight,

Apologetic limbs resumed their tasks,

Vitality of teamwork unmasks,

In teams, all members play some vital role,

The team comes first and everyone as whole,

One may feel useless at times in life,

With help and might success will then be rife.
